The first playtime with your newborn baby

The moment you come home with your newborn baby always comes sooner than expected. Lean into parenthood and discover your newborn baby's senses through play. Play is a fantastic tool for your child's development, and right now, you’re their most important playmate.

“Children use their senses from very early on, above all to communicate with you and show what they need. Some of the senses children have from the very first moment are feeling and hearing, but vision doesn’t fully develop until a little later,” says Anne Arvgrim, Design Manager at Micki.
Introduce toys that challenge your baby’s senses. The more there is to discover, the better. Let your baby experience different materials, colours, shapes and patterns. Let them feel different textures, both soft and hard. Let them listen to rustling sounds and feel combinations of lots of different materials at once.

“Making products that support children in the different stages of their natural development but that also challenge their curiosity, is and has long been the focus of our work. If products of ours can also make children want to play for longer and discover new things as they progress in their development, then that’s really fantastic,” says Anne.

“Focusing our work on this particular theme has made the difference with our products and made them better able to support and lead children in their development, which is really important but also seriously good fun!”

Develop language and practise interaction

What are we going to build today? Building with bricks is among the most fun activities for young children. In addition, it stimulates the brain's nerve pathways as the child coordinates visual inputs and their motor skills. Not least, it helps kids develop understanding of abstract but important prepositions such as "next to", “below", and "above". Do it together so that your child also practises interaction..

Practise motor skills and develop the senses

Which block seems to fit in which hole? And how do your teddy bear's soft ears feel when you touch them? With a sorting box with different shapes and materials, your child practises their motor skills and is encouraged to use more of their senses.

Take the first steps

How does it sound when you throw a block in the hard wooden walker? And how do the rabbit's soft clothes feel when you touch them? Maybe the blocks need to be driven somewhere or the teddy bear wants to go on a tour? Micki's Baby Walker has taught generations to take their first steps. With breakable wheels, an adjustable handle and many details, it is a safe and fun friend both before and after the first steps.
