Planting a kinder future

In a partnership with One Tree Planted, Micki is now providing financial support to save many regions in the world from deforestation.

Being kind to the planet has always been one of Micki's key values. Guided by our values, we carefully choose the materials we use in our production, and plant trees where needed together with our partner, One Tree Planted.

We believe that tree planting is about investing in the future generation – our children. For every Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds sold, we plant a tree in selected regions around the world together with One Tree Planted.

With the launch of Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds in 2019, also known as ‘the mini tree planters’, Rubens Barn received the prestigious award of Toy of the Year issued by the Swedish Toy and Baby Association. These small dolls are made of 100% organic cotton and have 100% recycled polyester filling. The thoughtful choice of materials and the aspect of tree planting for each doll sold gave Mini Ecobuds first place in the eco-friendly category.

Within the first year after a partnership with One Tree Planted, donations were made for about 16,000 trees to be planted for every Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds sold.

By the end of 2022, our aim is to reach a total of 26,000 planted trees through the sales of the Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds dolls.

Our partner - One Tree Planted

One Tree Planted is a non-profit organization that focuses on planting trees where needed on the planet. Trees help to stabilize the climate, provide habitat for biodiversity, and create sustainable jobs for rural communities.

“Through donations from the Rubens Barn Mini EcoBuds collection we will be able to plant trees across Africa as part of our AFR100 initiative.”, says Ashley Lamontagne, forest campaign manager at One Tree Planted.

"AFR100 is a country-led effort to bring over 100 million hectares of land in Africa into restoration by 2030. In partnership with the World Resource Institute and the Bezos Earth Fund, the project will have incredible impacts such as enhancing food security, increasing climate change resilience and mitigation, and combating rural poverty. There are currently 32 participating countries in Africa, along with local communities, national governments, public and private sector partners, and international development programs”, Ashley continues.
