Weaving Instructions - How to Warp Children's Weaving Frames

Weaving with a small loom or weaving frame is fun and creative for both children and adults. With them, kids can weave beautiful rugs for the dollhouse, a cloth for the flowerpot, or colourful coasters for snack time.

But how do you actually go about re-warping your child’s weaving frame? It can be a bit tricky – that’s why we’ve put together a little guide to help you continue with your and your child’s crafty adventures!

WARP MICKI'S ROUND WEAVING FRAME

Step 1 – Tie the warp

Start by tying the warp thread in the first gap to the right of the Micki logo on the round weaving frame.

Step 2 – Attach the warp to the opposite end

Pull the warp over to the opposite side of the weaving frame and secure it in the gap 22 steps to the right of the logo. For our smaller round weaving frame, secure the warp in the gap 16 steps to the right of the logo.

Step 3 – Tighten the warp clockwise

Then tighten the warp clockwise in step 23 to the right of the logo. For the small weaving frame, tighten the warp in step 17 to the right of the logo.

Step 4 – Cross back over to the Micki logo

Pull the warp back across to the Micki logo and tighten it in the gap 2 steps to the right of the Micki logo. Do the same for the smaller weaving frame.

Step 5 – Repeat the warping

Continue to repeat these steps clockwise around the frame until you have two gaps left. The same process applies for the smaller round frame.

Step 6 – Finish the warping

Cut the warp and thread it around the last two gaps on the weaving frame. Follow the same procedure for the small round weaving frame.

WARP MICKI'S SQUARE WEAVING FRAME

Step 1 – Attach the warp in a corner

Start by threading the warp through the first gap in one of the corners of the weaving frame. Then tie the warp in the corner.

Note: Make sure the metal pegs are removed throughout the entire warping process.

Step 2 – Thread the warp to the opposite gap

Move the warp to the opposite side of the frame and thread it through the gap on the other side (directly across).

Step 3 – Continue warping

Continue threading the warp back and forth through all the gaps on the frame. Ensure the warp is evenly tightened. Tie the warp in the second corner on the same side where you started.

Step 4 – Replace the metal pegs

Once the entire frame is warped and the warp is tied, replace the metal pegs. These need to be in place when you start weaving.
