Dollhouse wallpaper - free download

Wallpapering and renovating are fun activities - especially in a little dollhouse. Playing with small furniture, decorations, wallpaper and other crafts for your dollhouse is fun no matter what your age. Whether your dollhouse is old or new you can put up new wallpaper to make your dollhouse your own.

Dollhouse wallpaper is a great opportunity for creative play

All the walls in our Lundby dollhouse are decorated with playful Sandberg Wallpaper designed with the same idea in mind - inspiring imaginative dollhouse play. The colourful wallpaper patterns stimulate the child's creative thinking and storytelling when they play. There are lots of different living situations and all houses look different. We want our dollhouses to reflect and celebrate these differences in a playful way - using the imaginative wallpapers and creating and mixing freely them during play.

We see expressing oneself as an important way for children to live in their play and so the play can grow at the same pace as the child. The walls are reversible, which means that the rooms can have several personalities so the dollhouse makes the play more dynamic. We want children to be able to do as much as possible and create their own wallpapers to fit their unique dollhouse in Lundby's world!

How to wallpaper your dollhouse:

      1. Print out the wallpaper you want to use in your dollhouse. Use thick and glossy paper if possible. This makes the dollhouse wallpaper last longer.
      2. If possible, take the dollhouse apart. Lay the walls you want to put new wallpaper on a table or other solid surface.
      3. Glue the wallpaper directly onto the walls of the dollhouse, we recommend that you use a glue stick and apply the glue in a thin layer along the edges of the wall.
      4. Place your new wallpaper on the wall and press firmly so that the wallpaper sticks and has no bubbles or creases. If the wall is large, you may need to use several sheets of paper to cover the entire wall. Place the wallpaper carefully so that the pattern repeats correctly.
      5. Let the glue dry before reassembling the dollhouse.

Dollhouse wallpaper – Three creative tips!

      • Make a fantastic themed dollhouse! Is it a sweetie house, a rainbow house, a scary monster house or maybe Santa's very hidey-hole? Fun wallpaper encourages even more creative play.
      • Retro dollhouses are fun! There's lots of antique doll furniture available. Put up retro wallpaper and fill your dollhouse with antique furniture. It'll be a dollhouse that really encourages children to play with grandma, grandpa and other older relatives. How did families use to live?
      • Make a dollhouse version of your own home! Use leftover pieces of wallpaper and make a mini version of your own home in your dollhouse. What is the dollhouse version of your family up to today?

Historical dollhouses

Did you know that Lundby's first dollhouse came out in 1947? 1945 Axel and Grete Thomsen moved back to Sweden from Denmark. They lived in an area in north Gothenburg: Lundby. Grete started drawing and making dollhouses and furniture for her niece.

Her niece and her friends had so much fun with the dollhouse that Axel started thinking about making more to sell. Two years later Ferd came out. Lundqvist & Co. (later the department store NK) ordered it for 325 SEK. Grete and Axel used 320 SEK to buy new tools and later presented the first home-made dollhouse collection.

1997 Micki took over the development of the Lundby dollhouse. Since then, we've continued to create dollhouses, dollhouse furniture, dollhouse dolls and other accessories that reflect how we live today. But it's just as important that playfulness and the child's perspective are included.

Dollhouse wallpaper through the ages

The wallpapers and the great richness of detail are still unique to Lundby's dollhouses. The dollhouse wallpaper and other details have always reflected what homes looked like at the time. Here are some examples of what the dollhouses have looked like over the years. Maybe you'll recognise the style from your own home at the same time!
