Car Games for the Family's Road Adventure

5 Fun Car Games for Kids and Adults

When it's time for a trip, it's time to pack the bags for a fun car journey. But what do you do when the kids get restless and tired of looking out the window? We’ve gathered our best tips on fun car games to keep the whole family in a great mood during the drive!

Car Game 1 - I Spy…

"I Spy" is a classic car game that works well for kids of all ages. The goal is to guess what someone sees based on clues. One person says, “I spy with my little eye something that is…” and gives a description of what they see in the car or on the road. Then, everyone guesses what it could be!

For younger children, you can make the game easier by only guessing colours of things they see. Then, you can make it harder by going from “I spy something red…” to “I spy something red that is not a car.”

Car Game 2 - Car Colours

This game is perfect for younger children. The goal is to collect as many colours as possible from the cars passing by. The one who is the fastest at spotting all their colours wins! It’s a great way to practice colours while having fun.

To make it more challenging, you can try to find license plates that create words. Once you have enough words, you can start making funny sentences together.

Car Game 3 - The Alphabet Game

The Alphabet Game can be played with any theme. The most common way is to take turns saying a word that starts with each letter of the alphabet until you can’t think of any more. Start with "A" and continue all the way to "Z". For example, you can name animals that start with each letter.

For younger kids, you can focus on just a few letters at a time. You can also make it easier by giving them hints, such as “Name a yellow fruit that starts with B.”

Car Game 4 - 20 Questions

20 Questions is a classic guessing game where players try to figure out what someone is thinking of by asking up to 20 yes-or-no questions. One person thinks of an object, place, or person, and the others ask questions to guess what it is. Just remember, you can’t ask more than 20 questions!

To make it easier, the person answering can give playful hints like “It’s an animal” or “It’s something you can eat.” To make it harder, reduce the number of allowed questions to 10!

Car Game 5 - Guess the Song

Guess the Song is a game where you try to figure out which song is playing. You can either use a speaker or have someone hum a tune. The person who guesses correctly gets to choose the next song!

For younger kids, you can use popular nursery rhymes or lullabies. For older kids, you can pick songs from the radio or their favourite artists. To make it harder, you can only play short clips or hum for a few seconds.

Great Toys to Bring on the Trip

It’s also a great idea to bring some toys for the kids to play with during the car ride. Portable games, small dolls, toy cars, colouring books and crayons, or puzzles are all great options. You can also pack a few favourite toys or books to keep the kids happy along the way. Car games come in many different forms!

With these tips, you can turn any car ride into a fun activity for the whole family. Just remember to take breaks and stretch your legs now and then. Have a safe and playful trip!
